Reservations to attend Masses of Christmas Eve and Day are REQUIRED due to limited seating due to Diocesan COVID protocols.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER is Tuesday December 22, noon.
AS OF 12/8/20, NOON, the 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass is FULL.
REMINDER: During this time Diocesan Protocols forbid persons of different households being seated with each other at Mass, that is with those that do not normally reside in your house even if the person[s] is related or visiting for the weekend. The CDC recommends that families do NOT get together with members of their families for Christmas gatherings. Rather, households ought to celebrate with only those who live in their household and not allow relatives who do not live with them, to gather with them. Thus, it is highly discouraged for households to travel to visit relatives. Persons attending Masses on Christmas Eve and Day ought to be registered members of the parish at which Mass they attend. Please refer to the Diocesan and parish protocols issued in May 2020.
The Masses on December 24 and 25 are closed to the public as only those who registered through our online reserveration system or call the parish office may attend these Masses due to limited seating capacity. That is only about 60-70 persons may attend each Mass due to the physical distancing required between households. Ushers will have a list of those who have registered and only those who are on the ushers’ registration list will be admitted. Attendees will be assigned a place to sit, are required to wear face masks, and abide with the protocols issued in August by the Diocese of Sioux City and the parish as well as with instructions given by ushers and the pastor. An email will be sent before Christmas Eve to all who have registered to confirm their ability to attend or to notify them that “there is no room in the inn”. Each Mass will be celebrated with much greater simplicity than previoius years, as we have been doing for Sundays. This includes simpler decorations.
The Christmas season is celebrated until January 10th, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Therefore, there is plenty of time to celebrate Christmas on weekdays and weekends for those not able to attend on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
